Patriarch Sviatoslav. Open Church for 1 November 2021
“Zhyve” means “Alive.” To be alive means to be in search of the truth. For the last 10 years, Zhyve TV has been asking the right questions to help uncover God’s eternal truth through the Tradition of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church. Now, at the request of His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Zhyve TV is pleased to expand beyond the Ukrainian language for the first time. Beginning this week, we will bring you programming in English from Kyiv and around the world.
Our first project is a weekly news talk show called “Open Church.” Most weeks on Monday, join us on Youtube and Facebook to listen to news from our Church and the Catholic Communion around the world. We’ll also bring you interviews with all sorts of people: bishops, scholars, laypeople, and so on.
Patriarch Sviatoslav joins Zhyve TV host Sonya Soutus for an exclusive interview to launch the series. In it they discuss:
What it means to belong to the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church.
Why the Church should speak English.
Lessons from the church of martyrs; surviving World Wars and authoritarianism.
Lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Producers: Julian Hayda and Sonya Soutus
